I am having trouble with my serpentine belt keep popping. I’m not sure what is going on. Maybe someone can give me a little more ideas.
This will be my 4th time changing this belt under 6 month.
I have done replaced the follow, the idle a pulley, the tensioner pulley, the decoupling pulley, power steering pump, water pump, vacuum pump and the outer timing cover. The alternator is brand new as well.
my alternator was changed before my belt popped.
1st. Changing my serpentine I changed my decoupler pulley, idle pulley, tensioner.
2nd time I had to change the belt it because my vacuum pumped leaked on it.
After changing the vacuum pump it ran with no problem for 4 month
3rd time changing the belt, I changed my water pump and power steering pump because my power steering pump went out.
and now I’m changing it again
I live in a small town not many shops will work on my suv. A shop said that they was going to fix it but the told me it was my drive gear assembly in the inner Engine and cost me 2,000.00 just for the part. Not counting labor. And my transmission is bad. (I really do not believe my transmission is bad.). When I look my car from shop the only thing moved was my a.c Compressor. Nothing else was moved not even my air filter box. And my intake hose was pulled between my intake and fan. The guy told me he was waiting on Volvo to call him back to tell him the problem. My suv sat at the shop for a week and nothing was done but my ac compressor is off.
the only thing that has been happening is my serpentine belt keeps popping.
My SUV never ran hot, I did not drive my suv long after I notice my belt popped only to get over or pull in gas station. No fluids leaking and no coolant leaking. Please anyone have a few pointers
A slightly misaligned belt might be the cause. The early 6 cyl needs a special tool to align the AC bracket if someone (not knowing what they are doing) takes the bracket off and screws up the alignment. What year is your car?
