Default Steering shaft position

2005 xc90 I recently installed a new rack. When I put it back together I installed the shaft 180 degrees off and then repositioned my steering wheel aligned it close enough to take to alignment shop but after driving a short Distance I got the skid error and code read steering angle sensor..
Do I need to realign the shaft back andput the steering wheel back to original position or is there a easier way
....thanks mack

Nope, if done correctly the first time, you don't have to do it correctly the second (or 3rd).

Sorry for your troubles.

Did you verify the steering arm length was the same on the old and new rack as pictured below?

Actually no there was such a extreme difference one side was screwed out to the point it didn't seem to have a safe amount of threads so I equaled them out the best I could

Sounds like your steering angle sensor is not in the correct position - That sensor only turns so far in each direction - and can easily get broken if installed incorrectly.

I guess since you don't have measurements of tie rod length when they were on the old rack - remove the steering angle sensor - so you won't break it when turning lock to lock when you find the center point of the rack, find the center point of the steering angle sensor, install it and the steering wheel pointing straight ahead - then see if the tie rods can be adjusted to point the wheels in the correct direction.
