So at 2:15 this morning, me and all my neighbors were woken up by a horrible, smoke alarm type screech from my garage. I moved my car out to access the boiler, where I assumed the problem was...and it was my car! 69000 miles, 2005 xc90, haven't driven it in 3 days due to the holiday. We disconnected the battery so we could all get some sleep. my question is, 1)what the hell was that?!! And 2) can I reconnect the battery and drive it safely to my service station? No one is open on Saturday for me to ask. I've left messages at the big Mega Dealers and no one is calling me back. Thanks!

 

That was probably the siren going off because something triggered the alarm. Does it come back on when the battery is 're connected?

 

If it comes back or you think it might, pull the alarm fuse until you get it fixed. You will get a message "alarm service required" at each startup, but no problem otherwise.
