New XC Owner with minor (I hope) problems
Hi all,
I just purchased a 2008 XC90 V8 with about 55,000 miles on it and I have a couple of minor issues:
1. Putting it into drive: When I start the car, I need to wait between 10 to 15 seconds before it will let me take it out of the 'park' position. It's parked on a flat driveway.
2. Shutting down the car: When I turn the car off, it won't let me go past the I position. This time I have to wait about 5 seconds, then it will let me put the key in the 0 position and take the key out.
This is my first Volvo, so I'm not sure if this is normal and I need to be patient when the car is starting up / shutting down, or if something is wrong.
Any help is appreciated, I searched the threads for similar issues but didn't see anything, if you know of an existing thread that explains this, please paste the link

Problem solved! I ended up finding this thread and followed the advice:

Sure enough, once I took the center counsel off, I could see everything in the shifter moving slowly. I used some cleaner and lubricant and now it works great!
