Default Temp gauge erratic after turbo relacement?

Hi
I just had turbo replaced and noticed my temp gauge behaving erratic. It won't go to normal operating temp and has on occasion gone to zero. I have checked for a nick in the wre or rub but wiring looks fine. I know they drained coolant .
Would this cause a stuck thermostat? Do sending units go out on these? Is ther another sensor to check?
Thx

Just drove car again temp gauge slowly climbed to
Op temp. Then I hit big bump on road and
It dropped to zero . Has not started functioning
At all. Hmmm short somewhere or sending unit
Totally out? I guess I can rule out thermostat?
Thoughts?

If I wanted to take back to shop I wouldn't be on this forum.

It is fixed. I ordered complete unit from ipd and installed. Not sure if it was thermostat or sending unit but it is fixed.
