Default Replacing lower lid DVD player/console

Hi

First posting!

I recently managed to break the hinges on the top of my centre console/arm rest that houses the dvd player in my Aug 2010 XC90.

I have identified the part (30790274) and ordered it and now want to fit/ replace it. Taking the part to bits is easy - reveals DVD player sitting in the "harness" which easily unclips from the connector blocks.

Problem is the huge great wire that runs thru the hole in the "harness" (lower lid). It has a tight fitting grommet round it to protect from chaffing where the cables run thru the hole. The connector blocks will not fit thru the grommet. How do I pull the wire back thru the hole without rewiring?

I could neatly cut the grommet, slip it off, pull wires thru hole, fit to new "harness" and make sure when refitting the grommet that the slit is upwards away from the pressure point, but would rather do it "properly".

Any thoughts please? At the moment it's dismantled in my front seat...

Many thanks, in advance

I have no answers for your problem and not trying to take over your thread, I'm just hear to let others know there is more people interested in the issue besides you. My dvd player won't seem to play discs but my screen start up. I'm just wondering more about whats involved in replacing it.
