Thinking about buying an XC90
Hi All,
I have a 2000s40 right now and I am thinking of getting an XC90. The only thing is if I had known ALL the problems I would have had with my s40, I probably wouldve skipped it. Its been all the common ones- transmission, broken motor mounts, leaky fuel pump, bad mass air flow sensor, etc...
Does anyone know any common problems with the xc90's? Maybe specific to each year? I havent really decided on a year or anything yet, so any warnings would be great.
Thanks!

RE: Thinking about buying an XC90
All I can say is to stay away from the models that came with GM-built transmission. They are known to fail at unusually low mileage. Also, some XC90s seem to be affected with mysterious tyre wear & drive shaft failure. Also expected are some electronic control issues for ABS/ other stuff that can be fixed by downloading upgraded software at the dealer for no charges to customers.
A member by the name of Bluemagicbus was putting his well-maintained XC90 for sale. You could find his ad in the For Sale section or contact him via PM (Personal Mail) function.
Also, check recalls in each year; earlier models seem to have been affected with some tie-rod ball joint issue:

Good luck,
