Total noob here in need…
…of some input from the Volvo community (Enablers and critics alike).
My current vehicle is a 2015 F150 with 172,000 miles on the odometer. The truck has been my baby from the start, and has been kept and maintained meticulously. Unfortunately, I’ve been disabled for the past few years, and am no longer able to do “man things” that require the use of a pickup truck. Half of my vehicle is now useless to me, and the other half may as well be a jacked up two door coupe…no longer practical. Given the age and relatively high mileage, it’s time to either get rid of it, or make it my forever vehicle. If I’m being honest, whatever I’m driving in the near future will likely be my last vehicle anyway.
I have always wanted to take a capable luxury SUV, and lift it a couple of inches with oversized A/T tires. After an in-depth review of the available options from the luxury brands, I decided on the 2018-19 Volvo XC90. I’m going to get an XC90 with the same background as my truck, ie. one owner, no accidents, well maintained, but roughly the same high mileage. If there was ever a perfect time in my life to do this, it’s right now.
There’s a perfect one owner, garage kept 2018 T6 near me with 170,000 miles, and a full compliment of service records for a bargain price, and probably won’t ever depreciate further. Again, this is supposed to put a smile on my face, and provide a level of comfort and usability that the truck simply cannot achieve any longer. I just need some reassurance that Volvo is the way to go. Please do share any thoughts or concerns that I haven’t considered.
Thanks for your help!!

Here's a recent thread about a xc90 t6, 118k miles, with a burnt valve. It's going to be expensive.

personally I would not take on a car (Volvo or otherwise) with 175K miles unless you are capable of doing repairs and maintenance yourself. For example, what's the cost of replacing a stretched timing chain? Cars start to depreciate out the door, then flatten off then drop again when the car hits 100-125K. I think you can probably find something that has lower mileage - maybe has an accident or two in its history (50% of all cars per Carfax have at least one accident in their history which drives down the resale value).
