Default Trans Fluid Dipstick

Hello,

Does the 2006 XC90 have a trans fluid dipstick?

I looked under the hood and did not see one. The Owners Manual is also silent on the topic of trans fluid.

How does one check/fill the fluid?

Thanks.

5 cylinder does, V8 does not.

Thanks for the info ES6T. I have the V8.

How does one check the fluid on the V8? Is there a filler plug under the car?

It uses a two part drain plug. The center portion is removed when filling until oil comes out.

I found the fill check plug. Where does the trans fluid go in? I am unable to find a filler port.

Thanks.

After reading several internet posts I am fairly certain that the fastener circled in the attached photo is the fill port. Can someone please confirm this? I would hate to unscrew the fastener and have spring-loaded parts fly across my yard.

Many posts refer to a yellow dipstick beneath the radiator hose but I am unable to find such a dipstick.

Yes, thats it.

You don't have a dipstick, like I said before.

Thanks, ES6T. With no dipstick and limited transmission experience I am nervous about taking fasteners out of them.

Engines I am comfortable with. This is new turf for me.

OK I understand what you’re saying, but if I am looking at a used, 2006 VH and I want to see if the transmission has been taken care of, I want to see if the transmission oil is burned or nice pink color, do I need to open this up to smell? Or is there a better way to tell?
