Default Turn signal stock not working sometimes

05 XC90. The turn indicator stalk works most of the time when it's pushed down to put the left blinker on. However when I put it up to put on the right indicator, it sometimes doesn't work and I have to retry. Could this just be a contact pad issue that would need cleaning or could it be something else?

Same issue on mine. I'm assuming its corrosion on, or worn electrical contacts. Not sure how much work to open up and clean or replace though.

It seems pretty easy to take out the stock. Behind the steering wheel there's the 2 plastic pieces that the stock sits in. The top one I think can just pop off and then you can unscrew and take out the stock. If that doesn't work then I think you have to also unscrew the bottom plastic piece that has 2 torx screws in it. I'll have to do this myself some time soon and see if just cleaning the contact pads work.

I bought a 2005 XC90 less than a week ago (my first Volvo), same problem. I have watched maybe half a dozen you tube videos. This one appears to be one of the better ones on this.

I tried spraying in tuner cleaner without any disassembly, but the tuner cleaner did not get to where it needed to go, so disassembly is needed.

ADDENDUM 2 DAYS LATER:

Yesterday I removed the turn signal stalk according to the instructions in that you tube video, and cleaned the contacts. I got great improvement, but I will decide in several more days if the improvement was sufficient or if I need to buy a new stalk. On mine the torx screws were a different size than the video cited.

ADDENDUM 6 DAYS LATER:

After using it a bit, the turn signals work well. Cleaning the contacts appeared to be all that was necessary.
