Default Volvo technician quote and diagnose results for tranny issues

Hey guys, purchased a 06 Volvo XC90 8cyl with bad tranny and abs lights, the vehicle seems to run fine in roads and highway , the only delay acceleration i notice is when i put it in reverse and occasionally on forward movement, took it to a licensed Volvo shop to get a diagnostic , they basically told me it will need a new or used tranny in good condition, sensors and abs sensor replaced, was quoted $5k + for parts and labor, to me this seems high, could it be it just needs tranny fluid or sensors went bad?, There is no CHK engine light on so they most likely used a high end obd scanner, below I'm posting exactly what the results of their diagnosis was

[[[[[[[[[[Road test for transmission rpms rev up in reverse at times and banging into reversing from park too reverse verify customers concern scanned for fault codes found torque converter clutch solenoid codes recommended perform glycol test for contamination may need radiator recommend replace transmission Assembly .
Recommend new transmission torque converter locking up no oil pressure at times.
Delay.

Scanned for abs light on found srs codes in the syst, wem anti skid codes will not clear brake pressure fault permanent fault.
Found SRS right front impact sensor open circuit in the signal wire.
Need more time to inspect wire for impact sensor.
Abs found internal fault in the brake control module.
Recommend abs control module.]]]]]]]]]

kind of a shot gun repair recommendation on the tranny. there's a big difference between replacing the solenoids vs replacing the entire transmission. No harm in doing a drain fill or two, just make sure you use the correct fluid. Also you can try clearing the codes to see what returns.

As for the ABS, Check out Midwest ABS or Xemodex on diagnostics/rebuild cost for the ABS control module (Budget ~$500 for the module rebuild), plus I believe Xemodex now rebuilds the pump assembly on some modules. The value of the rebuild is there's no need for dealer programming.

If you bought a car with a ton of problems and are expecting a miracle shop to quickly diagnose it was something simple and minor, then you need to change your expectations. Sounds like you have multiple problems, none of which will likely be cheap.
