Hi All:

I got my suction-based car GPS mount today in the mail. It mounts to the windshield but also to the dashboard. As you all know, the XC90 has that metal mesh thing in the middle of the dashboard. I know for the models that have navigation, that is where the screen comes up. I don't have navigation so it's just a big metal mesh thing there. My car mount came with a very stick circular attachment that I can put on there, so that my mount suctions onto it. I can put it there, but just want to make sure that there's nothing under there like a speaker that I will be blocking.

Is that metal mesh purely decorative or is there something useful under there. I know that the circular sticker thing will stick onto there and then I can suction the car mount to it. But before I do all that I want to make sure I'm not blocking something - like speaker noise, air conditioning flow, etc.

Anyone knows what's under this? Manual doesn't say anything...

 

Either a speaker or nothing, depending on the audio system.
