what is the 'other' headlight bulb in the assemply?
I have a 2005 XC90 and it has three bulbs in the assemble. One is the little orange one, another is the low beam, but that seems to also be the high beam when you turn it on. There is one more bulb in the assembly that I cannot turn on. I don't see how to get it on and it's in a little circular part, but there doesn't seem to be a switch. I can turn on the fog ones, the low beams, high beams, but nothing seems to turn this other one on.
Can anyone tell me what it's for and how to turn it on?

my only guess is that this is actually the REAL high beam and I've actually just been using the low beam with the self-adjusting setting and assuming it was the high. I'm going to replace one and see what it actually does once I find the part number.
okay, I found out what they were...
If you put the light control to the left of the wheel to the '0' then those ones will come on because they're Daytime Running Lights (DRLs). However, if you have it in this position then you can use the high beams.
It would be nice if Volvo actually gave you a way to use all the lights and have the decision up to you instead of assuming...

Guys Im wondering if the headlight assembly on a 2012 XC90 will fit a 2005 XC90. They look like they will cause the only thing that changed from then is the inside not the outer area. Anyone know that this can happen please let me know.
it may have something to do with DOT regulations. they have all kinds of rules about lighting.
