Whats the going price to install a used transmission and airbag sensors
Hey guys, i have a 06 volvo xc90 v8 with 113k miles, those that live in the U.S what is the labor charge for installing a used transmission and replacing the air bag sensors in your neck of the woods, im located in Phx,Az.
Last time called LKQ the cheapest used tranny with similar miles to mine went for $2.1k , good thing with lkq they warranty all their parts, would be nice if the mechanic did the same lol.

first of all what's going on that makes you think you need to remove/replace the entire transmission? If you want to price out a used tranny, check car-part.com (search engine for recycle yards). If you are going to have a shop do the work, simply call around and ask for the book labor amount to remove/install a transmission. Most shops use a quoting tool that provides the shop hours for a given job like this.
PS I've seen other posts where 12 hours was quoted or 1500 at an indy shop at 125/hour. Dealer rates are probably in the 175 range so that would get you up to 2K+ without any other fees for the unit, disposal fees, fluids, install parts, other work like replacing the rear main seal etc, which can quickly get you up to the 2500-3000 rainge at the deal or 2000 for an indy.

I took the vehicle to licensed Volvo mechanic shop (not dealer), they did a inspection and told me the tranny most likey will need to be replaced along with the airbag and anti skid sensors , at these shops they dont let you bring in your own parts for the repair , they quoted me $5k+ parts and labor.
I know of other mechanic shops and they are honest as they say they dont work with volvo or european cars lol, i cobuld probably get it done cheaper by some indie shop but problem with them is they give no warranty so if something goes wrong i dont get any refund.

What do you mean "licensed Volvo shop"?
Volvo cars of North America does not "license" independent shops. As an Independent shop owner Volvo's legal department made it very clear I could not use any of their trademarked Items. I could say I am an independent specialist, and am a licensed Master Mechanic - but that is an ASE certified Mechanic in no way "licensed" from Volvo.
I allow customers to bring their own parts. There is no warranty or any guarantee that customer supplied parts will work. With customer supplied parts I also charge additional labor to make up for the money not made on the sale of parts. To be a successful shop and be able to provide reasonable benefits to the employees and pay for proper insurances, taxes and business licenses - a shop needs to make money on both parts and labor.
Exactly what problems are you trying to solve? Why do you think there is a problem with the "air bag sensors" ? (I have replace many SRS components, usually for body shops after accidents) Antiskid sensors - wheel sensors are rarely bad, except in winter climates, but steering wheel position sensors need replacement sometimes, and ABS control modules have internal problems.
