Wheel interchange info required
Hi all.
This is my first post on the forum.
I just purchased my first Volvo. it's a 2011 XC90 3.2 R Design and I'm looking for a used set of rims to mount winter tires on.
The original wheels on the car are 19" but I don't particularly want 19" rims for my winter set. I believe the earlier model years of the first gen XC90 had rims as small as 16"??
Anyway, just wondering if anyone is aware of which other wheels will fit my car?
appreciate any help.

You are correct in that you can easily go down to a small rim. The specs for fitting rims for a 2011 XC90 are:
1) bolt pattern (ie 5x108),
2) hub center bore (67.1mm)
3) rim offset (ET49)
Factory rims came in 17,18,19 sizes but you need to match tire treadwidth/aspect ratio to the rim width. Here's the factory sizing:
a) 17x7 ET49 with a 235/65-17 tire
b) 18x7.5 ET49 with a 235/60-18 tire
c) 19x8 ET49 with a 255/50-19 tire
Check out sites like hubcaphaven.com for OEM/replica wheels at a good price (I got my spare S40 rims there.). Keep in mind if you have metal valve stems, it means you have the in-wheel TPS sensor so you'll need to order those as well.

Thanks so much for taking the time to reply!
This is great information and has already prevented me from purchasing a set of incompatible wheels. It seems Volvo is fairly consistent with the bolt pattern spacing but they’re all over the map when it comes to center bore size over different models and years.
