Default Wiper replacements--where to get?

My windshield wipers are toast after 15 months of owning my 2006 XC90. I've used the wipers maybe ONCE. (record breaking drought in SoCal this yr).
Isn't this unusually rapid 'wear'? Would the dealer/warranty replace for free?
I've heard the wiper replacements run approx $65/pr (yikes)
Anyone know of where to get 'generic' brand? (eg Pepboys, etc)

thanks

You have to get the replacements from Volvo as far as I know since the way they are attached is different from other makes and models.

I bought a set of silicon edge blades from Costco, it works fine. I think I paid 16 and change for a pair. The right stock blade has a curve on it, don't kno wwhy but the straihgt one works just fine.

Lightbulb wiper blades xc90

I found aftermarket full wiper blades (rather than refills) for the Volvo XC90. I like to replace the entire wiper because of the abuse the ice and snow put them through - I figure better safe than sorry. I went with Trico Tech Beam Blades. I've been a Trico NeoForm guy for a while, but I tried the new Techs because they have a new mounting system that allows the wiper arm to sit slightly lower than in the past. The Techs are beefy as hell and look great with the new, lower side mount. By the way - they came with complete removal and installation instructions - very easy. Got the whole set-up online.

Default Excellent fit of NAPA wiper blades on 2008 XC70

[quote=MIK911;63647] Anyone know of where to get 'generic' brand? /quote]

Today these replacement wiper blades installed quickly and easily on my
2008 XC70, taking less than ten seconds per side. From the NAPA invoice:

2008 Volvo V70
60-2543-15 Wiper Blade - Neoform - $23.79 (driver side)
60-2043-15 Wiper Blade - Neoform - $17.99 (passenger side)

They wipe real clean, 100% streak free in windshield squirter testing.
We'll see how they perform over the upstate New York winter.

Bosch work great also. The only wiper on the car that is proprietary is the rear wiper. You have to get that one from Volvo.

Wiper blades die from drying out, air pollution, etc.

You're going to love the wipers...been using neoforms for a few years now and absolutely love them. Next time though, plan ahead and purchase for a couple of vehicles if you have mulitple and buy online. Not only will you save $5 on the driver's side and a buck on the passenger side, no tax and free shipping over $50. These guys ship priority mail too so I got my order in 3 days.

Here's your car: https://www.headlights123.com/wipers...008&model=XC70

Enjoy!!

Patrick,

I had the proprietary rear wiper on a Chevy HHR. Dealer wanted 40 bucks for it.
I wonder why the aftermarket makers don't offer these - low quantities ordered maybe?

Right about drying out, air pollution, etc. It seems to me like the sun beats them up more than actual wiping action does.

My NAPA Neoforms did great in a little moderate rain yesterday.

Default online source for wipers and bulbs

Jeff,

Hot damn - that looks like a great source. Thanks for the link.

"Plug in replacement parts" is music to my ears. The reason for my original post on the NAPA wipers is some mentioned they had trouble installing other brands, these went in slick as a whistle.

Glad to hear you like the Neoforms. Looks like NAPA put their name on the Trico part.
