My 2006 XC 90 drops into Winter Mode when I hit a pothole or really rough patch of road. I can tell because the W lights up, but I can change the gearshift into manual mode and back into automatic and it corrects it. It must be interpreting the rough road as loss of traction. Any ideas? The vehicle just started do that recently. Thanks!

 

what happens when you play with the button on the console? does it reset to standard mode or does it revert on its own? Sounds like you may have a problem with the switch in the console or a loose connection - possibly to the TCM or one of the wheel sensors.
