Default XC90 75,000 inspection..cost?

Hi everyone, new to the board.. I have an xc90,. 2008...its right around 75k, and i wanted to hear how much it should cost? the dealer by me, who is always way overpriced said $960 for the service..it sounded like the service is all about "checking" the car except for cabin filter and spark plugs (which is what, like $200-300?) how much does this service cost in other areas? is it really recommended?
thanks!

In order to compare apples to apples, make sure you are not just comparing prices but also comparing what is included. Some dealers include more than what is in the service table in the owner's manual.

The 75k should be an oil and filter change, tire rotation, spark plugs, air filter, cabin filter and brake fluid flush.

The 75k shouldn't include a wheel alignment.

If it's just what I said, which is by the book, that price is insane. Probably cheaper to buy the items a la carte.

Total ripoff.

Ask how much the replaced items are on their own.

As I'm sure you know, you could avoid checking all those things and go on your merry way and be just as happy and successful. If they did legitimately check these things for $100 an hour I would think 9 hours is quite excessive. 1 hour would kind make sense.

The checks are just filler to make it look like more work. Personally, I check a car getting a 75k just as much as I do a car getting an oil change. Any tech who doesn't check anything isn't going to make much money.

Did you notice they have fluid checks repeated on that list over and over? Plus they could just have one line "multi-point vehicle inspection" but instead they have all the points multiple times plus that. It's about 1 hour's work.
