Default XC90 cylinder 5 misfire

We started getting the cylinder 5 misfire code about 5 months ago (car would hesitate at lower speeds in top gear). Replaced spark plugs and all was well until two weeks ago..car would run ok, until at a stop light or stop sign, then would mis occasionally at idle and the chk eng light came on with same codes. Replaced spark plugs again (only 10k miles) and ran ok until this weekend. Chk Eng light came back on and continues to mis while at an idle. changed spark plug at cylinder 5 only and swapped coil 5 with coil 2 to see if the problem followed the coil. Chk Eng light went off and has not come back on yet...what could be going on here?

Default Misfire problem

Solution to your problem I think U need to replace Mass flow censor, But before U put this on check the air filter box, It should not be loose secure it tightly, Most of the time the problem is with Air leaking. If the problem still exists replace the MAF.

The MAF should set a code. What plugs are you using? Your coils cracked? let us know how the swap works.

I swapped #5 coil with #2 coil and the code followed the coil. Replaced coil and all is well so far. Thanks
