I have a 2004 XC90 T2.5 with about 52K miles. All three of my engine mounts wore out. Is that normal? I have never gone off-road and only do city/highway driving. Car was shaking side to side when accelerating or driving at high speeds. Mechanic said all three mounts were shot and engine was basically sitting on frame. Does this sound right?

 

All that the mounts are, is rubber so that doesnt sound normal to me to wear out at 52K miles but ive seen alot worse at alot less miles so. Anything can happen with vehicles, old or new

 

i had a 2003 T6 with 96k, and bottom mounts were shot. had them replaced, took car back in and top mounts were shot. probably a more reasonable mileage to see the problem though.

what other consequences can this have?

 

Same thing happened to my XC90 2.5T at 100,000 km.
Experienced shuddering when starting off.
Made a big difference when replaced.

 

My dealer just told me the same thing, now mine has 90000 miles on it, what did he charge you and do you know if this is something i can do on your own or do I need a mechanic
