I must be getting too old, I thought I had posted this earlier today but I cant see it anywhere....

Volvo XC 90 (2006) right hand drive, diesel, geartronic, automatic, 7 seater, diesel.

There is a control lever hanging loose at the top of the engine on the left side, can anyone tell me should this be connected? (I can see where it should be). My local mechanic thinks it has been disconnected purposely in the past, I have no idea, never seen it until yesterday. Whats the worst that can happen if I reconnect it ? Photo enclosed.

Looks like a level sensor. Going to be connected to a suspension component.
