2001 v70XC Molding... going the other direction.
Like any car of its age, my near 20yo car's plastic is faded and oxidized. I have seen other people wanting to find ways to repaint or stain it black again.
I plan on removing the molding and sanding down the molding with progressively finer sandpaper until I can buff it out to shiny black.
The goal is to not only bring the black back but do away with the coarse texture altogether and make it glossy.
My car is in excellent shape for its age. Aside from the messy me, the interior is perfect with no cracks, tears, or blemishes. there is only one small dent in the body. The engine itself has over 200k on it but doesn't leak or burn oil. I keep up on the maintenance.
Proof of concept for me is actually going to be under the hood with the plastic cover that goes over the coil packs and belts. I am going to sand and polish those down first to see how it turns out.
