Hello, I've I'm new on this site, and I have some questions. I have a 2000 S80 2.9 that I purchased last fall, the stereo that came with the car is nice and sounds fine, but I want to add a 400 watt amplifier and two subwoofers, and an equalizer. Will this upgrade affect any of the electronics in the car? I know the S80's run on an electronic network, the last thing I want ot do is to disrupt it. Also, would a power capacitor be helpful?
Did you want to add another radio as well?

No, I want to keep the stock face. The audio technicians are going to fit an RCA jack adapter to the stereo in order to hook up the amplifier.
Then it should not mess with the computers system at all.The only Other quiestion is are you going to run an amp for the front speakers? If not then it would not be worth using the equalizer.

Well the Eq has channels for the front, mids, rear, as well as one only for subs. I'm only going to use it for the subs and later on for the front speakers. Thank you for your help.
Ok as long as you are planning on using it for the front speakers later.Because if not there would not have really been any benefit from it.It might add a little more bass for the subs but that would have been all.
I know how a nice system is nice while driving.I am pushing between 700-800 watts through 10 speakers including a set of subs. The EQ makes a big diffrence for the Mid's and High's.
you can get an rf convertor online about 24 bucks and jump off the rear 2 into amp to sub3 and keep the factory setup I'm pushing 700wt. threw 2 12',s 1300pk.wts. and that way your high's are your fronts and just fade to set
