Default Stereo and Lighting Upgrade

Did a search but couldn't find anything. We have a 2001 S60 and wanted to upgrade the HU-613 to HU-803, pretty sure it will fit but will i need a different harness? also, does anyone make project headlights for the 2001 s60 model? thanks in advance...

No, no one makes projector headlights for the s60. You will have to have them custom made or custom make them yourself.

Just put some HID's in your current headlights and call it a day.

The HU-803 came with an external amp. The standard amp was 200W and the premium amp was 300W. In order to do the swap, you would need to purchase one of the amps with wiring. The HU is rather easy to find, the amp and wiring not so. Its not worth the effort IMO.

As far as the lights, you might be able to finda set of factory HID headlights from the newer models. The thing is, its not direct plug-and-play with the halogen wiring. It has a different plug. I also believe (I may be mistaken) that the factory HID setup has a level sensor mounted in the back to adjust the beam based on load.

You may want to take S70driver's advice and go with an HID kit. By the time you do both swaps, you could be looking at between $1K-2K for parts and labor. Believe me, I've looked at going down this road several times and it never seems worth it. I would rather buy one that already has it.

Um yeah take my advice and spend $150 and install them yourself in about an hour and be done with it.

$150 or $1,000 to $2,000 I dunno which I would pick. Oh wait I do $150 ding ding ding!!! We have a winner.

good advice and thanks for all the input...just wasn't sure if there was an aftermarket company that makes the hid projectors for the 01 s60. And as far as the radio...anyone know if I went with the HU-803, if I could use an aftermarket amp? I'm going to be upgrading the speakers and subs most likely anyway. My thoughts are to have an amp to power the subs, and an amp to power the HU/speakers.

No one makes projectors for the s60's like they do for the 98-00 70 series models. Sorry. You can put HID's in your stock headlights though, which will look great.

Or you can do a custom projector retrofit. Then add some HID's to them. Exspensive to do but would look cool. Or just put HID's in your stock headlights and be done with it and it will also be cheap and easy to do.

SharpHID.com is where you want to get your HID's from. Apexcone 35w system is what you want with H7 style bulbs and a bulb temperature of 4,500k-6000k nothing less nothing more.
