Default 2004 S60 R Long Cranking To Start

I'm having a problem with my 2004 S60 R. Whenever I try to start my car after a longer period of time (1 hour or more since the last time it started), it takes about 2 to 3 times longer cranking before the car will start. The weather/temperature does not seem to matter.

Has anyone had a similar experience with this model? Any ideas as to what the problem might be?

I'd take it into a shop to have it looked at. I live in WI and never have problems starting my 2002 S60 even during below zero temps (it doesn't sound happy to start when it's subzero but it still does) so there may be something going on. How many miles does it have? A lot of the routine scheduled maintenance comes up around 120k so it may be due for some of those (alternator possibly). I usually check my fluids when anything sounds funny but your dash computer should let you know if something is low too.

Try turning on the key but waiting a 5-10 seconds before starting. If it starts right up, you're losing fuel pressure.
