Mechanic is quoting over $400 for a rebuilt steering rack for 1998 V70. Said he doesn't trust the $200 ones you on the internet etc. I dont mind paying (well i do but let's assume I dont) for quality parts and doing it right once, but is $400+ for a rebuilt part a bit high? When I google it or go through any the parts store links I see them much cheaper. He says he is buying direct from the company doing the rebuild.

 

Sometimes, you get what you pay for. I wouldn't be surprised if a cheapo rack starts leaking shortly after installation.
