I accidently posted in the S70 section the same question Im going to post here.
I have a V70 xc 98 with over 200000 miles and the engine is DEAD. The mechanic offered $300 and stated $4000 for a used installed engine. The tires are brand new and worth $600 with less than 1000 miles on them! I want the tires and possibly taking the seats out if I can (think) they will fit in my 740. But what is this V70XC worth scarped or should I try to sell it? I could put maybe 14 hours a week into parting it out but I don't have a lot of room for it sitting around and I don't want it to go to waste. Any thoughts/suggestions? I was thinking of bringing it up to Portland to the IPD car swap meet.... And also just selling it but I have no clue what its worth...

That's the kind of 'deal' when the garage pushes up the repair price to get a car for parts at a cheap price.

To have a used engine installed it's 3-$500 for the engine, $1000 for labor.
