So I bought this V70 last year and we thought it only had a turbo issue right? Wrong, after pulling the bad turbo and seeing how hot it had gotten from lack of general car maintenance we decided to pull the top half of the head to see what other issues not changing the oil did. Found burnt caked on oil so we pulled the pan and it looked like a rod bearing was starting to spin also, so time to replace the motor. I got a steal on a full drop out so I was fine with it. So where I need you guys help, I'm having a ETS issue and read every form post and think I have a good start on that. What I need someone to answer is how many wires are on the starter. Is it the two large positive cables or two large positive cables and one smaller wire? I have a smaller orangish brown wire that looks like it goes on the starter but i'm not sure since how small the gauge is on it. I have been able to get past figuring out my issues so far on my first volvo from all the posts on here but stuck on this part.

 

Two large wires go on threaded post. Smaller wire with covered female spade terminal goes on starter spade. This wire enables the starter solenoid when the key is in "start" position.
