Routing Hood Release Cable 98 t5
Mine snapped right at the red handle. Thank god.
I pulled about 3 from some 850's in the junkyard. Getting them out I absolutely brutalized the cars, as I was short on time, and on the verge of heat stroke. The NA cars have so very much obscuring the firewall grommet, its amazing. Then after removing half the dash, the grommet is up behind the main fuse box...Extensive potential for frustraition...
Coming out, they (main cable) apparently need to be pulled from the inside, due to the threaded "attachment" on the end.
As a sidenote, these cables look remarkably similar to throttle cables...
I assume I've answered my own question, is it just the single steel cable that needs to be replaced? Whats with the hard vaccum line clamped alongside said cable? Also, there is an elbow coming off of the vacuum line.
I'm assuming I can just replace the steel cale and leave the other line alone, since they appear to be totally seperate.
Sorry for the lengthy post; anyone who's cable has snapped? Anyone rigged an "emergency cable?" I'd like to do that....
Thanks in advance.

I had replaced the Hood cable recently. Regarding breaking of the cable off inside the engine compartment, it's hard to get the hood opoen from below ht engine and at a movement I believed that was impossible . I suggest others to install an extra emergency cable from the deivers side latch straight down to a place that is reachable from below the engine. I used a bare cable connected through the closed hole in the latch handle, and tied it off near the air pump. I had an every day cable coming out above the head light, but plan to replace this one with the new cable into the cabin. Could any one please suggest some more advantageous method for the problem?
