I'm a bit confused. I just picked up a 2001 V70 T5, and am dealing with the fact that Volvo was building two distinctly different models of V70s during 2001 apparently. Mine is the Gen 1 model (which I actually prefer in the wagon, though I really like the Gen 2 sedan better... but that's another thread for another day).

My dilemma is that it seems that when I need to order parts, I need to tell the helpful counterperson - or computer - that I have a 2000 to ensure I get parts for a Gen 1. But it also seems that there are some differences from the Gen 1 2000 year model and the Gen 1 2001 year model. An example is the dash - I looked up the 2000 model dash update kits, and it doesn't look a thing like my car, but my car apparently looks like the 2001 through 2004 model according to this vendor: Volvo V70 XC70 Cross Country 2001 2004 LD 00278K VLV Wood Dash Kit Trim 27 Pcs | eBay (and BTW, if anyone has a spare Tiptronic shift console trim laying around in Japanese Cherry - possible since the kit apparently comes with that PLUS the shifter trim for an XC90 - I'd love to buy it).

Is there any kind of cross-reference that details which parts I should order for a 2001 and which parts I should order for a 2000?

Oops. I just figured out what happened. I had mistakenly assumed that all Gen 2 V70s looked like the facelift version (which I'm not a big fan of). Turns out mine IS a Gen 2.

Nothing like a clueless new owner, I guess... ;-)
