Question Alternator Replaced, what to do with the old one? Refurb?

Hey guys,

Quick question, I replaced the alternator on my wife's XC70 and I was wondering what to do with the old part, it turns fine so I'm guessing the bearing is fine so the voltage regulator might be why I had to replace it. Would be dumb to just throw it away if someone can have a use for it.

Anyone has an idea on figuring out if the voltage regulator is broken? I heard it could be replaced.

Thanks in advance

Did you buy a new one? If so, pretty much any parts store charges a core deposit that is returned when the old one is replaced.

Replaced it with a used part, it was $40!!! and fixed the problem, no way was I gonna spend $200 on a new alternator. So I'm left with a non working alternator and would like to maybe make a quick buck.
