Default 2001 v70 xcountry

I am looking at buying a v70. It has 116k on it. Is there anything major I should be concerned about in the near future? I have a 94 850 and from looking at the v70 I am sure that the PCV is going to need to be replaced (oil leaking from filler cap). What general maintenance items are due at this mileage? The carfax shows regular dealer services since new. How does everyone feel about these Volvos? I love my 244 and my 850.

Just rollled 100k on my 2002 V70 XC last night. Timing belt service is slightly overdue if it hasn't been performed yet. Other thing is to at least drain and refill the transmission fluid (assuming an automatic transmission). If the old fluid is brown, that is BAD, and you'll want to either drain and refill several times (driving it a bit in between), or do a complete flush with new ATF.

BTW, if you buy Volvo brand ATF, it runs about $20/qt. I think system capacity is like 7 or 8 qts. Drain and refill I think is 3.5 qts (still need to do on mine). Don't buy that. Mobil 3309 or Toyota Type 4 are EXACTLY the same formula at about 25% the cost. I just ordered a case of Mobil 3309 via amazon for about $60 including shipping.

Also good to have a couple quarts on hand in case a transmission line decides to back out and squirt ATF all over the undercarriage while you're driving. That's what happened to me. Luckily I caught it before a) the bolt holding the line into the transmission backed out all the way and got lost, and b) all the fluid leaked out, destroying the transmission.

Also plan to spend a extra $128 for VIDA /DiCE on ebay and $100 for a used laptop.. You make that money back in 6 month. Don't put chinese software on your regular computer. keep it off the net.

If you buy from a dealer make sure it has the softwares updated. it comes with an idiot option where the care goes in neutral when you stop. Thats $150-$200 to uppgrade.
