Default Broke my clock spring - will airbag go off??

I just replaced my lower steering shaft due to hard steering and turned the steering wheel a few too many times while the shaft was out. I think I broke the ribbon in the clock spring for the airbag. I now have an srs message "srs airbag service urgent" that shows up on a scanner as srs-0014. I have erased the code and it returns immediately on next key on. I believe this tells me I broke that ribbon. I have ordered a used clock spring to hopefully get the car straightened out. So my question is - is it ok to keep driving it? Is there any way that broken ribbon can set the airbag off? Thanks for any input! The car is a 2003 v70 2.4 non turbo.
