Default Clunking noise in front end

Every time I hit a bump in the road I can hear a clunking noise in the front end. It seems to be mainly on the drivers side. I put the car on a lift and checked the ball joints, torsion bar and struts. All seemed solid except when I place the car back on the ground the upper strut mounts raise up. I'm attaching pictures and hopefully a video. Is This normal or is this the clunking I hear?

most likely its a torn spring seat. Volvo pn 30683637. Its a hard rubber seat with a metal bushing that slides over the strut rod. They are prone to tearing between the seat and the metal bushing.

Could also be the sway bar end links. Pretty inexpensive to buy on FCPeuro.com, and relatively easy to replace. If there is any play in them at all, they will make rattling/clunking noise, particularly when going over bumps.

In 99% of the cases, the upper spring seat is bad. The center piece tears loose from the rest of the seat and causes the noise.

Replace spring seats and upper strut bearings. $50

That how I ended up with mine. But it was a rear noise no one could fine so the owner just wanted to dump it. I found out the rear spring mount had broken. In the photo the ring of steel the shock is mounted to is supposed to be firmly bonded to the rubber. It had been loose for some time and was grinding off the rubber slowly but surely.

Those fronts shouldn't change that much when you jack it up. I'm guessing the spring seat too. Maybe this video will help.
