DIM failure, how long can I still drive 2003 V70 T-5
Our 2003 V70 T-5 has 245k miles. We had the DIM replaced in 2013 (145k miles & over $1k)). At the time the dash was blank and, comically, our daughter was learning to drive. We drove it several weeks before we could get it into the Volvo dealer to replace the DIM/motherboard (?). I still recall our conversations about how fast we felt we were driving. I would say it was too fast and she would respond, "No, Mom, it feels like 30." Mom usually won these discussions :-)
So now the same daughter has had the car for the last 4 years in another state ( the car made it through a Pandemic cross country drive) and we are hoping it will make it a few more weeks until she can get it into a shop and/or she will purchase her own car. She did get a new battery for it last month. Not 100% sure it is DIM, but they charge $150 just to diagnose and it sure seems like the same thing. She is driving it about 10 miles each day M-F. It is certainly better to have the dash working, but has anyone had experience driving with the dash not working and driving (like we did in 2013)? I don't know if we were just lucky before. Thank you for any insight on this!
