Default Has anybody heard of this one. switch noise only when cold.

2001 V70 XC
Has anybody heard of this one?
My window switch makes a clicking noise only when it's cold. the windows work, although the driver window doesn't go up auto mode. it goes up and down the child and all locks works too... any thoughts that would fix this?

By the way I Love Volvo's

Hi Ray, welcome to VolvoForums.

No I have not heard of complaints of a cold switch making noises. Maybe it's broken internally.

As for an Auto Up, I don't think Volvo's do that for safety reasons.

Is it a repeating clicking noise? And does it do it even when not using the switches?

I've got the same issue with front passenger controls. window won't work until it stops. As i drive and it gets warmer the clicking slows and eventually stops. I then can control the window and door lock. The other interesting thing i noticed is the temp reading in the driver dash reads blank (--) until this stops.

I hope someone with a fix can chime in.

Probably a bad drivers door module. Pretty common.

Hi, I don't know what that could be but the driver and passenger windows are both auto up and down on my 2002 v70.

Hello Rayanmar, My 2002 XC70 just experienced this exact same phenomenon as you described, right down to the --F-- temp display as well. After about 2 weeks of this clicking noise, it appears that my passenger window control module has burned out alltogether, and I can no longer unlock the door or operate the window using the power buttons on either the Drivers' nor Passenger side control switches.

I pulled the switch module out, and lamented to find it contains not one, but two printed circuit boards!. I contacted the dealer, and they requested $420 to replace the passenger side module, PLUS $80 to download some software to program the new switch, and then labor shop time to do the programing. OUCH.

Did you ever solve your issue? If so, how?

If you still have this, how much are you willing to sell it for?
