Electrical Noise Heard On AM Through The Radio
Hello folks. New to the forum. Searched the forum for help on this topic first and was not able to find anything. Please pardon me if the answer is here already.
I've 'graduated' recently to a '99 S70/GLT sedan from an 850 wagon. This is a symptomatic problem I'm having pointing me to perhaps a grounding problem of some sort.
On AM radio only, (lower frequency than FM) I hear ignition noise as well as the break light click. I really don't care about the noise through the radio but it makes me think something bad is brewing in the electrics of the car. Can't be good for the computer can it? Don't know if it's throwing codes yet. Just asking from a general perspective.
TIA for any response.

RE: Electrical Noise Heard On AM Through The Radio
Well, the ignition noise from the spark plugs is making its way through the radio. So, at low idle, like at a stop light, it's a low buzz. Light turns green, off I go and the frequency of the buzz goes up.
At the same time, depressing and releasing the brake causes a click heard on the radio.
Strange stuff I know and maybe irreleant but I remember something similar on my 850 happening but have no idea what the remedy was.
Edit: I can hear the turn signals through the radio too. Oh and, no I'm not a looney! I swear.[sm=outcold.gif]

In all honesty I have no idea how to fix this, but I will tell you what I would do. For one, I would unplug the battery to reset the radio, check the fuses, and only licen to FM radio (WTF is on AM anyways???) Other than that, I would wait for someone on here who might actually be able to help you fix it.
You could also time your acceleration, brake, and turn signal so that it creates a nice beat...............

Thanks for the reply. More pressing issues such as the T-Belt and front struts need attention at this point. Not much on AM or FM these days so the XM is in. Must have tunes.
The engine ground strap seems to come to mind regarding the buzz and click. I'll have to do some research on that.
