Anybody heard about this?
I took my T6 to my local service guy today and while he checked it out he mentioned that there is a possibility of an extended warranty on all S80s because of the myriad of problems the model has sustained over the first several years of it's existence....stuff like throttle body problems , O2 sensors, ABS/STC problems, tranny problems (thanks, Chevy)...etc... Apparently there is a group of *cough* rich *cough* S80 owners out in California that are sueing Volvo because of all these problems that have happened to their Volvos, a car name that has historically been very rock solid and long lasting. Not that the S80 is a bad car, but they do have their problems as we all know and the S80s dont really live up to the "unbreakable" Volvo legacy. The mechanic said maybe something like a 10 year warranty would be initiated on all the S80s. That would be a really cool idea i thought [sm=happybounce.gif]--I have already poured way too much money into my car and I have only had it for about 3 months. Has anybody heard about this deal? Yea, here's more on the story...seems to be limited to ETM failures and such.

I have made two or three posts re: this issue of the throttle body. I have know about this issue for several years................Volvo has been quashing it since 1999. My C-70 coupe has 40,000 miles on it and as a preventative measure I have had the throttle body cleaned twice at the dealership at a cost of approximately $150.00 per cleaning! In addition, I use only Shell premium which has a very high quantity of cleaning agents formulated with the gasoline. As I have mentioned many a time on this forum, Volvo ought to be spanked for selling such poorly engineered autos! It took about a month to find that my C-70 was going to be a problem! On the other side of the coin..................as strange and odd as it sounds...................I truly enjoy the C-70 for the styling, performance, interior, radio, and joy of driving. I also drive a BMW that is truly the "ultimate driving machine" but they certainly lack on styling and I also find that anyone with a job can finance one and so they have lost their "exclusivity" and I find that many a head nods when my silver C-70 comes into view. So...................I hope Volvo does the right thing and voluntarily extend their warranty instead of allowing the gov't to force them into doing it.
