Default Heater controls stopped working after radio replacement

Hello all
Got a very frustrating problem with my partner's 2001 V70.
Her HU 603 radio had stopped working so I replaced it. Disconnected the battery terminals first.
Now the new unit works fine but the upshot is that the heater controls have completely stopped working.
No lights come on and no controls work.
You can see at the back of the unit that there is a little thing that 'ticks', a round thing that goes forward a little bit and then back to its original position. Just does this over and over again.
And when you drive the vehicle, you just get hot air blown at your feet constantly.
Please please PLEASE can somebody help me to fix this incredibly frustrating problem?
Thanks very much
Martina and Jack

"a round thing that goes forward a little bit and then back to its original position" - are you talking about the fan that blows air over the inside air temp sensor? behind the 3 little slots above the passenger temp control? Heat on the feet is the default if the system is not working.

Anyway, fuse c23 powers Steering wheel module, light sw module and the CCM - So probably not going to be a fuse. How about a poor connection - did you get plug a and b put back in all the way on the back of the CCM?
Sometimes a pin can get bent and prevent the plug from engaging all the way. If they are connected the next step would be a scan with a compatible scan tool that can talk to the whole car. VIDA would be your best choice. That would give you clues where to look next.
