Default No engine management light at all?

Well i have finally got back behind the wheel of a V70 2.5d 2001, although an older high miles girl! 202k
I have a few issues with her, the main one was that some of the instrument panels did not light up, i now know why! no bulbs in there!
The main concern is that when i turn the ignition on i get everything but the engine management light?
Everything is fine, speedo/rev counter, all the other warning signs are there, now i worry is this a cluster problem or is it not receiving a signal from the ECU?
Can anyone shed some light on this as its a worry, i have been offered by a company to test the instrument cluster, but this would mean the car off the road for 3/4 days and living in rural Norfolk that is really not a good option.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Default To fox DIM - display instrument mudule ( cluster )

Look up and google how to remove a cluster ( or DIM ) from Volvo v70;
there you will see YouTube - and it is easy ! then google Xemodex - a company in Canada - these guys are tops! you ask for an emailed mailing slip then take the removed cluster to express mail in package - they will have it fixed same day of arrival , and replace all needing retooling.
WAAAAAY cheaper than dealer doing it ( $1500-1700 ) ; about $375 !
