I have a 2004 V70 and I am already having trouble with the tyres scrubbing on the inner guard. Are there any other know problems that might surface with the figment of snow chains. I notice the McPherson strut runs very close to the tyre. Is guard clearance a problem?

 

are you running stock rims and standard tire sizes? (wheel-size.com is a good resource to confirm factory options). If you are, then I'd make sure the inner guard is not out of place and properly secured.

Are you looking to see if there's enough clearance to run chains? I'd check the owners manual to see if there is a maximum rim size.
