2004 XC 70 jerk when braking
My XC70 recently developed a jerk when coming to a full stop, just before actually stopping. It is more noticeable when coming to a hard stop, literally1-2 seconds before stopping. I have had some major, and expensive work on the front end recommended by my mechanic as a possible solution with no change. I have had tie rod ends, struts, motor mounts etc. replaced with an alignment. After that I had a full brake inspection done with no issues identified and still I get the jerk. Does anyone have any ideas about the cause of this? There are no codes showing up and actual braking does not seem to be affected. The car has just under 200,000 miles with regular maintenance. Transmission oil is clean.
I, coincidentally think I have the same issue. I believe it may be the torque convertor, possibly the lock solenoid. I am going to attempt a transmission fluid flush myself then have my local dealer perform a shift point reset. BTW, I have a 2003 XC70 with about 150k miles.
Thanks for the information. Hopefully you will be able to identify the cause. I await your results so that i can go to my mechanic and get him to try the same things. I am most grateful for any suggestions.
I performed the fluid change and it hasn't seemed to do much. The fluid was extremely dirty so I plan on doing another in a few hundred miles to try and get more of the old fluid out. I think the issue may be the torque convertor lockup solenoid and I am leaning towards replacing my valve body with a remanufactured one.
