Help - Can't deactivate alarm
The problem of living on a Greek island is that this one doesn't have a Volvo dealer, so unfortunately I can't just pop down to the local garage to get this remedied. I have a 2005 XC70 D5 RHD for just over 2 years it has a full Volvo service history until August 2012 but still in very good working order, well until this morning.
I thought I had left the lights on the car this morning but when I tried to open with the key remote nothing happened, as soon as I opened the door manually the alarm sounded, there was no power to the rest of the car when I turned the ignition on and I hadn't left the lights on! However nothing works when I turn the ignition on. I thought the battery had run flat but connecting it to a charger it had a full reading
So after searching this and other Volvo forums it seems likely my alarm module needs replacing. To silence the alarm I have pulled fuse No 8 from the fuse box under the steering wheel (all other threads say it is fuse 38??) - but I think I have to disconnect the alarm module which I believe is under the drivers side (RHD) wheel bay/trim.
So do I have to disconnect this in order to get power to the car? Coincidence or not but I can not manually open the front passenger door, maybe there is a fault with this door unit?
Any hints, tips advice would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers.
