hot, then cold, then hot, then cold HELP!
Hi!, My SIL has a 2006 XC70 47000 miles. The car sat in a garage for 5 or so years and last year she started driving it again. all last winter her heat would blow hot then blow cold. My husband says it's not the heater core. He also checked the radiator, not that either. He changed the thermostat but it's still doing it. It's about to get cold again here in Chicago & we'd like to get this fixed. Anyone know or have an idea where he should look next?

There are motorized blend doors controlled by the climate control computer to set the airflow through the heater core, AC evaporator or both. Any blinking lights on the AC or REC buttons? Could be one of the door motors, the computer or a temp sensor. There may be fault codes stored in the computer but you may need a Volvo shop to scan as not all tools will read the the climate control fault codes.

Same problem
We have a similar problem except it happens with the heater and the A/C, so the whole CCM. For about the first 15-20 minutes the temperature gauges work but then the CCM blows cold thereafter even if you turn the temperature up. We have to turn it up to Hi before any heat comes out. I borrowed a code reader from Advance Auto and looked the code up online and got this:

I need to know how to find the actuator and what to look for if it is stuck. I thought I might check the sensor on the CCM separately to see if that is dusty. Anyone have any suggestions?
