Default ignition wont start

Hi,
My daughters car (2006 XC70) was running fine until about 2 weeks ago when the key would not turn past 1. Determined that the wheel lock button broke and was jamming the lock. I ordered and installed a new ignition lock using my VIN so it is my understanding that her existing key fob will work with the new lock. Everything appears to work correctly (key turns all the way now) except there is nothing when I try to start the car. No sound, the engine doesn't turn over, nothing. My neighbor has the Snap On diagnostic tool which we used to check and clear codes. There is also a warning message on the dash about the air bag. The following code repeats even after clearing with the Snap On every time I try to start the car "00E7 CAN Signal Signal Missing". Any thoughts on troubleshooting?

Thanks,

I know it sounds dumb but did you plug in the shifter cable ask the way through properly? And did you connect the ignition lock?

With me, no questions are dumb! I did plug the shifter cable all the way until it "locked" in place. In regard to the ignition lock, not sure what you are asking about it "being connected". I re-installed the lock to the steering column and re-connected the electronic piece to the end of the lock. I also re-connected any wiring that was disconnected during removal. One of my concerns after reading all 25 pages of posts about "ignition" is that I may have removed the wiring for the airbag and subsequently tried to start the car with the wiring removed. I also probably removed the positive on the battery first which also seems to be a no-no.
Thanks,
Greg

OK well now that I know that its locked in place I know more information. Just make sure that all connectors on the column lock are on properly like the antenna ring because that will cause the vehicle not to start. And you don't remove the connectors for the air bag unless you took out the airbag which is unnecessary.if you connected the clock spring connector then you should be OK. And as for the battery there isn't a problem taking the positive cable because that's what I've always done that and I've never had a problem.

I checked all the connectors and the antenna ring and everything is connected properly. Is there any troubleshooting I can do to find out why the car won't start? Is there a way to see if the antenna ring or the electronic part of the ignition is working properly? Do you think the air bag code is a coincidence or related/symptom of the car not starting? I tried to clear the code again with the Snap On scanner and was not successful. It keeps coming back. I did it multiple times and one of the times a couple other codes showed up including:

DD10 Control Module Communication
00D5 SRS Lamp Signal Missing
00EL CAN Signal Missing

Any input is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Greg
