my niece owns a 1998 s70 4 door sedan and she wanted me to replace the stock speakers it seems she has the 8 speaker set up does anyone know if this car came with a factory amp ? . the previous owner already replaced the head unit . I dont want to add a sub or another amp or should I ?

 

there are different models of factory radios for the s70s - they use a double DIN common to 850s, S/v/c70s. An easy cheap upgrade is to find a head unit (with code) like the SC901 which has a bit more power than the basic units. As far as adding amps, lets face it, newer units have way more features (like blue-tooth and MP3 support) and more power. Considering the speakers are about 20 years old, they may have tears in the speaker surrounds reducing volume and sound quality. You can either repair the surrounds or replace the speakers with a similar size.
