Hi guys, new here! I need some help. My sons 00 S70 starts and dies immediately. I have 20 yrs mechanic back ground but none with volvo. Heres the deal... He lost the keys a few weeks ago. The dealer ordered a new ignition assembly w/key. The old one was bad they said. When they went to install they said they couldnt due to a damaged steering column, ($1800). I just had the thing towed home for we only paid $1900 for the car a few years ago. NOW, I decided to install a used column along with matching key, ECM, trans module, and anti theft module. The install went perfect except for now the car starts and dies immediately. I have no door to key to do the 5x door lock reset, but I have been able to reset by touching the + to - battery cables. Oh, I replaced the ant ring along with splicing in a new green plug also. Once reset, the immobilizer LED stays off for about 3 attempts at starting, then engages. So I dont think thats the problem. My son also says he had some trouble before all this ever went down with the car not wanting to start back occasionally. It would eventually always start back then though. NOTE. The car sat for a month before I made the stated repairs. I have checked the starter wires, replaced the fuel pump relay, unplugged the MAF, NOTHING WORKS!!!! Any help would be appreciated.......
