1998 V70 stopped running
New to the forum and am not sure what to do. I have a 98 v70 with 130k mileage. I drove it on Sunday with no problem and parked it in my driveway. Today, Thursday, it would not start. When I turned the key the engine turned over but would not start. I charged the battery, almost brand new, checked one of the spark plugs and it is getting a spark. I could smell gas where the plug was. I sprayed starter fluid in the intake, checked the fuses and it still will not start. Any suggestions. I even had the codes scanned and nothing came up.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am hoping to pass this car down to my son soon.

A car needs 4 things to start and run; air, fuel, spark, and compression.
The most common problems are
1. Bad fuel pump relay.
2. Bad or low compression due to a burnt valve or some strange compression issue.
3. Broken timing belt.
Is the timing belt in tack?

Also might get more hits in V70 section..
Some background info would also be helpful; i.e. do you have mechanical/automotive experience, whether professional or DIYer, do you have tools, etc. etc...
