2000 s40 just stopped running *yikes*
I was driving my 2000 s40 and it just stopped running....
I pulled over and the engine turns but it wont start...
does anyone have any idea what it could be?
The car has 104,636 miles... (and I havent changed the timing belt yet) but was going to in the next couple of weeks.
if the timing belt did break, would the engine still be able to turn over?
can the fuel filter fail and shut down the engine that quickly?
any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Yes the engine would turn over. It would actually turn over even faster than normal since some valves are open all the time and the drag of the valvetrain is not present (4 broken belts for me in my life -hangs head in shame-). I'm not sure if the 1.9L is a clearance or non-clearance engine though. Quick check for broken belt is to remove the top plastic engine "beauty" cover and the engine side half of the timing belt cover. 6 torx bolts total.
Make sure you check your fuses too. May be just a blown fuel pump fuse.
