Default 1999 Volvo S70 Continuous problems

Hi All. I really hope somebody out there can help me with this car. My initial problem was that the ABS, Traction light would come on and then I would lose my speedometer and odometer and RPM. The car would go into limp mode and would not move very fast. I was told the ABS control module was the culprit so I removed it and had it sent away to Victor Rocha for repair. I received the new unit back and installed it. It worked for a few days and then the lights started coming on again and the car had power but was very rough. I was then told the ETM is a problem on this year. I replaced the ETM module. I drove the car for for a day and now she is back to being rough, ABS, CEL, and traction lights are on, Speedometer and Odometer is not functioning. I am now told that the MAF is the problem. Can the MAF cause all these symptoms?? I am at the end of my rope and also at the bottom of my bank account. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated

My guess would be that you got a bad ABS module. I really don't think the MAS can cause those symptoms.

sound like you have more than 1 problem in your car. i would suggest you get a proper place to get a full diagnosis first before you keep replacing parts in the car first. (eg. a place there you can hook up vida)

I have a 2001 C70 and had those same problems when I first got my car. Although my ABS module was bad and it was fixed the first time. Then my MAS went out, and the car worked for a bit, a few months later more problems. Took it to the Volvo dealer they said the MAS again. I didn't believe them but replaced it anyway. About 6 months after that it was acting up again and I took it to a different shop who does Volvo's and again they said the MAS. They did tell me that they see alot of aftermarket MAS that are bad from the start because they are calibrated wrong or something. And that they replace with OEM parts. Replaced it again, and its been over a year and I haven't had that problem anymore. Although, I'm not having other "running rough" problems but not enough for someone to figure it out. So I haven't had very good luck with my Volvo either. Sorry I couldn't give you any idea's, but good luck.

But I can tell you there are a lot of very knowledgable people on here that helped me quite a bit.

Guys, Thanks for all your feedback. I have a replacement ABS coming from Victor so I am hoping most of my problems will be fixed. I will let you all know the outcome. It may help somebody else.
